Tickets go on sale for Hickstead’s summer season

Tickets for the Al Shira’aa Hickstead Derby Meeting and the Agria Royal International Horse Show at Hickstead have gone on sale, with an early bird discount applying for all tickets bought before the shows.

Both events are among the highlights of the equestrian calendar, with top-flight international showjumping taking place alongside showing championships, national jumping classes, carriage driving and more.

The Al Shira’aa Hickstead Derby Meeting takes place on 20-23 June 2024. The show features the iconic Al Shira’aa Derby on the Sunday afternoon, which is widely regarded as one of the toughest showjumping courses in the world. To compete in the Derby, riders must qualify during Friday’s Agria Derby Trial, while Saturday sees horses gallop round the International Arena in British Speed Derby.

The Agria Royal International Horse Show runs from the 23-28 July 2024, with Friday’s Agria Nations Cup of Great Britain forming the centrepiece of this five-star show. Other feature showjumping classes include Saturday’s Queen Elizabeth II Cup and Sunday’s King George V Gold Cup, while on Thursday the event riders have their opportunity to shine in the Ashby Underwriting Eventers’ Challenge.

There is so much to watch at Hickstead, with seven rings of action running throughout both events – from the tiny ponies and children jumping over little cross-poles in the Hickstead Mini Challenge, up to leading Olympic showjumping stars competing in the International Arena. Showing enthusiasts always flock to Hickstead, with a host of HOYS qualifiers up for grabs at the Al Shira’aa Derby Meeting. In July, the Agria Royal International Horse Show is deemed the showing world’s main summer championships, with horses being campaigned up and down the country to pick up one of the qualifying tickets in order to compete at the show.

Hickstead’s shows boast a range of bars, restaurants and street food stalls, plus a large shopping village in which to browse some of the country’s leading brands and tradestands. A family zone including a funfair will keep younger visitors entertained – and even better, children under 15 getting free admission every day of the season except Sunday 23 June, when booked in advance.

There is also a free admission shopping day on the Thursday of the Al Shira’aa Hickstead Derby Meeting, when all general admission tickets are free (a £15 parking charge applies).
