It's been an extraordinary season at Hickstead, with so many unforgettable moments.
Was it one of our stunning debut wins, such as 21-year-old Ella Dalton winning the British Speed Derby at her first attempt, or Fred Scala taking the honours in the Ashby Underwriting Eventers' Challenge? Was it Harriet Biddick surviving that alarming moment when Silver Lift lost his bridle yet still jumped through the tricky treble of planks? David Simpson preventing William Funnell from a record fifth win in the Al Shira'aa Derby? Did one of our showing winners catch your imagination, such as Wonga Swinger's double in the RoR Tattersalls Finals, or Will Morton's first Surpreme Horse title? Or was it the brilliant double of home nation wins at the Royal International, with the British team winning the Nations Cup and Robert Whitaker claiming the honours in the King George V Gold Cup? Whichever you choose as your favourite, this season will certainly stand out in our memories for a very long time.
Now we're asking you to submit your best photographs from the 2023 season, pictures that really sum up some of the year's best bits. We want to see images that capture the special partnership between horse and rider, and showcases what Hickstead means to you.
The photos can be of anything that sums up the Hickstead experience – showjumping action shots, beautiful showing photos, people enjoying themselves at the showground or those taken behind the scenes here at the All England Jumping Course.
If your photograph is chosen by our panel of judges and receives the most votes in an online poll, you could win one of our brilliant prizes.
What you can win
The overall winner will receive a pair of Annual Members' badges, that will not only give you access to every day of the Hickstead 2024 season, but also to a host of other sporting events including racing, cricket and polo.
The second and third placed entrants will receive a pair of Members’ Enclosure tickets for any day of their choice of the 2024 Hickstead season, including parking.
How to enter
The competition is open now, and images can be submitted up until Friday 1 December 2023.
Entries can be made by posting the images on our social media pages on Facebook or Instagram - see the pinned posts for details.
The entries will be judged by the Hickstead Directors, who will create a shortlist of the top six photos. These will be put to public vote to decide the overall winners.
The images must be your own, and not submitted on behalf of anyone else. Only amateur photographers are eligible, and not those attending via press accreditation or working in an official capacity. By submitting your photos, you agree to Hickstead having full use of them both in print and online.
