Hickstead is world famous for showjumping, and the British Jumping Derby Meeting remains one of the highlights of the British Equestrian Calendar as it approaches its 50th year! Over 15,000 spectators flock to our Sussex Showground every year on Derby Day itself, to watch first hand the human and equine stars of the showjumping world battle the formidable course, including of course the famous Derby Bank.

There is more to Hickstead though than just the Derby, with the Longines Royal International Horse Show, the The Hurstpierpoint College National Schools and Pony Club Championships and Dressage at Hickstead to tempt our visitors...the only difficulty is choosing on which day to come!



One thing that can be guaranteed is that you will find something at Hickstead for every horse lover, whether its jumping, showing, dressage, eventing, driving or polo that particularly enthralls you...and for those members of the family who are slightly less 'equinely-inclined' don't panic....there are literally hundreds of shops for the girls to get lost in...and countless bars, restaurants and amusements for the boys to wait for the girls in!
